Railways to launch new website, mobile app for faster ticket booking, rail tracking

Railway Ticket Counter

The department of Railways is all set to launch a revamped version of the website and an Android app to improve user experience and to help them book tickets faster and plan their travel. The new IRCTC ecosystem (app and website) will be designed in order to help the customers not get timed out at the time of booking their train tickets. Currently, the users do face a lot of problems while booking tickets on IRCTC website. The issue worsens especially in case of booking tatkal tickets as there is a huge rush and the servers are mostly not able to take the load.

The new website, termed as user-friendly and clutter-free, will help users navigate better and book their tickets in less than two minutes. According to an official release, IRCTC will announce the launch of new website and app soon. The app will be available only for Android smartphones, for now. There was no clarification on whether the department plans to launch the same for iOS and other mobile operating systems too.

The new app and website will be providing a lot more options to the users. It will have an option to spot the live location of the train, that will be enabled by the partnership of IRCTC with ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). With this, IRCTC is planning to establish itself in line with the other travel websites, which are very user-friendly and able to accommodate millions of users at any given time.
