ED (Enforcement Directorate) has summoned MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) Chief Raj Thackeray, senior Shiv Sena leader, Manohar Joshi and Unmesh Joshi, son of former Maharashtra chief minister in IL&FS-Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services case.

The top investigating agency has been probing the case of IL&FS which has defaulted over Rs. 91,000 crores. In connection with the alleged irregularities related to (IL&FS) loan in Kohinoor CTNL, the inquiry board has summoned the above-mentioned leaders. Kohinoor CTNL is one of the defaulters with Rs 860 crore.

On the summon issued to the top brass leader of MNS party, the party workers are angered. The party claims of political vendetta. It said that the ruling government is doing this to counter the Raj Thackeray’s efforts to join the opposition in Maharashtra. The summon has been confirmed by MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande. It is expected that Raj Thackeray will join the probe on Thursday.

The party cries foul as the government’s decision is taken only to build pressure. They asked the reason as to why no ED inquiry has been ever initiated against any leader of BJP in the last 5-6 years. They claimed that since chief Raj Thackrey was unifying Opposition parties against the dictatorship of Modi, the ruling government wants to pressurize the leader.

Deshpande took a hit at independent agencies by alleging them of behaving like BJP activists. he slammed the fact that one cannot question the government without being getting notices like this.

It is said that ED is interested in knowing Thackeray’s exit from the group. In 2011, Kohinoor CTNL signed an agreement to sell some commercial-residential premises in Kohinoor Square to IL&FS. It settled Rs. 500 crore as the pending loan amount. But after the settlement, IL&FS lent a further Rs 135 crore to Kohinoor CTNL, on which it defaulted.
