To ensure a safe execution of polling, the Chief Election commission has asked all the district collectors to deploy forces at the sensitive polling stations.  The Chief Electoral Officer, Anand Kumar has ordered the collectors, district election officers (DEO), to deploy enough forces to ensure safe and fair election. According to officials, almost five personnel of security forces including central forces will be deployed at each sensitive booth poll.

Reports suggest that nearly 8,000 polling booths in Rajasthan have been identified as sensitive and extra force would be stationed there during the elections. The sensitive areas are mainly in the eastern part of Rajasthan especially Dausa, Karauli, Dholpur and Bharatpur.  The election commission has also decided to do live web casting and videography in highly sensitive areas so that they may keep a check on the whole process.

Also, this time the election commission has introduced an app called ‘c-vigil’, to monitor any violation of code of conduct before and during elections. ‘c-Vigil’, which stands for vigilant citizen is an android based application through which the citizen in the poll bound states can record or click pictures of unauthorized activities such as distribution of money or any disruption created on polling booths. This app will be first used in the upcoming election in the states of Rajasthan, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh.

This application will help the election authorities to act against the perpetrators with concrete evidence. Earlier, many culprits would walk free owing to the lack of evidence like photos or videos. As per the instructions with this new application the election authorities will act within 100 minutes of the complaints related to violation of code of conduct.
