Rajnath Singh met Assam Chief Minister regarding the Guwahati Grenade blast


Home Minister Rajnath Singh met Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday regarding the blast in Guwahati on Wednesday evening that killed two people and left as many as 12 people injured

The office of the home minister of India tweeted that, “home minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal regarding the blast that left 12 people injured in Guwahati. The chief minister has apprised Rajnath Singh of the situation in the state. Home Minister Rajnath Singh prays for the speedy recovery of the injured and the police and other agencies have been deployed to investigate the event thoroughly.”

A grenade blast took place near a police checkpoint on Guwahati upscale zoo road on May 15 evening. The attack came after chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the law and order situation. He asked the state police to check criminal activities.

Two unknown bike born suspects had logged Grenade on state police troops and fled after that.

After the incident, the Police sources said that it is suspected that ULFA -I could be behind the grenade attack because there are reports that the chief of ULFA, Paresh Barua, called a few local television channels and claimed the attack responsibility. However, Police are yet to confirm the claim.
