Ahead of officially taking charge as the new Defence Minister in Narendra Modi’s Cabinet 2.0, Rajnath Singh on Saturday visited National War Museum located in the national Capital. Singh paid tribute at the War Museum. He was accompanied by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, and Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh.

BJP Senior Leader and MP from UP’s Lucknow Rajnath Singh will formally take charge as the Defence Minister today.

Rajnath Singh who held home Ministry in Narendra Modi‘s previous Government has been replaced with Amit Shah for Home Department. BJP President Amit Shah has been rewarded with Home Ministry in Modi 2.0 Cabinet while Singh has replaced Nirmala Sithraman for the Defence Portfolio.

Nirmala Sitharaman has been inducted in the Cabinet as Finance Minister in the absence of Arun Jaitley who opted of the Cabinet race citing health Issues. Sitharaman held Defence Portfolio in Narendra Modi’s last government.

The National War Museum located near India Gate in National Capital is a tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives safeguarding the nation post Independence.

It was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 25, early this year.

The layout of the National War Memorial Comprises four centric Circles, namely Amar Chakra or Circle of Immortality, Veerta Chakra or Circle of Bravery, Tyag Chakra or Circle of Sacrifice and Rakshak Chakra or Circle of Protection.

The complex includes a central obelisk, an eternal flame and six bronze murals dedicated to famous battles fought by Indian Army, Air Force and Navy Forces.

Busts of the 21 awardees of Param Veer Chakra have been installed at War Museum located next to Indira Gate.

More than 2500 Soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces have lost their lives in safeguarding and protecting the integrity of the National in Counter Attacks, or peacekeeping mission post-Independence.
