RBL Bank announced on Sunday that its total deposit was Rs 73,637 crore as of December 31, 2021, down 2.58 percent from Rs 75,588 crore at the end of the previous September quarter.

Total deposits were 9.61 percent greater than Rs 67,184 crore on a year-over-year (YoY) basis as of December 31, 2020.

“The total deposits of the bank as of December 24, 2021 was Rs 73,141 crore,” the bank said in an exchange filing.

On December 25, RBL Bank announced a shuffle in its top management, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) sent its chief general manager– Yogesh K Dayal–as an additional director on the board of the bank for two years, effective from December 24, 2021.

On the same day, Rajeev Ahuja held the role of interim MD and CEO after the bank accepted the request from the MD and CEO Vishwavir Ahuja to go on a medical leave with immediate effect.

The lender’s current account and saving account (CASA) were Rs 25,316 crore at the end of December quarter, down 5.30 per cent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) and 21.32 percent higher YoY.

CASA ratio stood at 34.4 per cent at the end of December 2021 quarter versus 35.4 percent  at the end of the previous September quarter and 31.1 percent in the year ago period.

Retail deposits and deposits from small business customers came in at Rs 27,871 on December 31, 2021,  down 11.30 per cent QoQ and up 14.16 percent YoY. 

The bank’s liquidity coverage ratio stood at 146 percent in the reporting quarter versus 155 percent at the end of September quarter and 164 percent in the year ago period.

On Friday, RBL Bank set up a panel consisting of two board members, the chairman of its nomination & remuneration committee and an external expert, for staffing the right candidate for the MD and CEO post. 

The bank also mulled over assigning the staff task to recruiting agencies, as the suitable candidate can be either from within or outside the bank.
