kerala "Prohibitory Orders In Sabarimala Can't Be Withdrawn", says Kerala government

Raising the stakes on the Sabarimala issue, Kerala BJP on Monday began an indefinite relay hunger strike in front of the Secretariat.

BJP State general secretary AN Radhakrishnan began the fast. Party workers from the 14 districts in the State participated.

BJP MP Saroj Pandey, who inaugurated the fast, alleged CPI(M)-led LDF for acting against the will of people and said, “We will raise this issue in Parliament.”

She described the protest as a new beginning for BJP in Kerala and further claimed that the state government will have to rethink on what they were doing on the Sabarimala issue.

She also added, “The road for discussion should always be open.”

The Sabarimala issue has been boiling since the Supreme Court gave a verdict on September 28, hence revoking the ban on women of menstruating age to enter the Ayyappa shrine in Sabarimala temple.

Since then, the right-wing religious outfits backed by BJP have been protesting against the verdict. Congress also joined the saffron party in the issue.
