Satish Poonia takes over as new BJP President of Rajasthan unit; Former CM Vasundhara Raje skips coronation event

Satish Poonia officially took the charge as Bhartiya Janta Party‘s President for the Rajasthan unit on Tuesday. The post of Rajasthan BJP President fell vacant after the death of Madanlal Saini since June 24 this year. Satish Poonia represents the Amber Vidhan sabha Constituency from 2018.

The official ceremony was held at the BJP headquarter in Jaipur city. Many prominent leaders of the saffron party such as Prakash Javadekar, Rajyawardhan Singh Rathore, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Kailash Chaudhary, BJP vice-president Om Mathur, leader of opposition Gulabchand Kataria, and Baba Balaknath were also present in the event.

However, the event did not saw the participation of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. She only wrote a letter to Satish Poonia, congratulating him on his achievement. The letter read, “You are a young, hardworking and honest worker and hence am confident that you shall come to full expectations of the organization. I was keen to attend the program, however, in the wake of Bhramin bhojan, Kanya prasad and prayers post-Navratri, I failed to mark my presence.

The state will go to by-polls for its two seats- Khinvsar and Nagaur on October 21. It is expected that Satish Poonia will lead the party to victory in the upcoming polls.

Speaking on the occasion, Satish Poonia said, “We shall realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of making Congress mukt Rajasthan. Rajasthan shall be made the undefeated fortress of BJP and shall ensure Vidaai of Congress in by-polls and civic elections.
