A day after Shashi Tharoor receives injuries in his head, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visits him in the hospital. Thiruvananthapuram MP and Congress’ candidate in Thiruvananthapuram in the upcoming elections, Shashi Tharoor received injuries in his head after performing a temple ritual yesterday. The ritual at Gandhari Amman Kovil in Thampanoor included sitting on a weighing scale, which actually broke and fell on his head while the rituals progressed. The ‘Thulabharam’ ritual was being performed as part of Malayali new year. He was admitted in hospital with six stitches in his head.
A tweet was posted out by Mr. Tharoor after the Defence Minister visited him which read, “Civility is a rare virtue in Indian politics – great to see her practice it by example.”

Tharoor had also put out a tweet for his LDF opponent/rival in the constituency, C Divakaran who ‘expressed concern’ over the phone.
Very gracious of my LDF rival C.Divakaran to call this morning to express concern about my well-being. Said he had spoken to the Hospital Superintendent to assure himself I would be ok. “Don’t be demoralised”, he added. I’m not: I’m more determined than ever to see this through!

With Lok Sabha rituals all set to begin in the state on 23rd of this month, Tharoor is contesting against his BJP rival Kummanam Rajashekahran and the LDF candidate C Divakaran.
