The ongoing tussle for power between BJP and Shiv Sena has grown more aggressive as Shiv Sena has issued a list of seven MLAs supporting the party. Uddhav Thackeray-led party claimed that its strength in the Maharashtra assembly has reached the figure of 63.

According to the list issued by Shiv Sena, the following candidates have extended their support-

  1. Manjula Gavit (Independent MLA)
  2. Ashish Jaiswal (Independent MLA)
  3. Narendra Bhondeka (Independent MLA)
  4. Chandrakant Patil (Independent MLA)
  5. Bachchu Kadu (Prahar Janshkti Party MLA)
  6. Rajkumar Patel (Prahar Janshkti Party MLA)
  7. Shankarrao Gadakh (Krantikari Shetkari Party MLA)

Where on one hand, Shiv Sena Sena published a list of candidates supporting it, on the other hand, Devendra Fadnavis was elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party on Wednesday. As quoted by ANI, Fadnavis said, “This mandate is surely for ‘Mahayuti‘ (BJP-Shiv Sena alliance) as we sought votes for ‘Mahayuti’. People also voted for it. So, there should be no doubt that it will be a ‘Mahayuti’ govt.

There is a tussle going on between the BJP and Shiv Sena over the chief ministerial post in Maharashtra. BJP has secured 105 seats while Shiv Sena sealed the victory on 56 seats. This result put BJP in a compromising position where it has to resort to taking outside support to counter the demands of Shiv Sena in government formation.

Shiv Sena is demanding the implementation of 50:50 formula according to which power has to be shared between the two parties for a rotational basis. The formula was iterated by Home Minister Amit Shah during the Lok Sabha election campaign.

Previously, Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik has asked for a written assurance from the BJP regarding the implementation of 50:50 formula.
