Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha on Friday held a roadshow to seek votes for her mother and Samajwadi party nominee Poonam Sinha who is making electoral debut from Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow in the mega polls 2019.

The Actor on the occasion was accompanied by her brother Kushh Sinha and Dimple Yadav, wife of Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav. However, Poonam Sinha’s husband Shatrughan Sinha did not join the roadshow.

The road show passed through three assembly segments and covered the old part of the state capital that is populated mainly by Muslims.

Congress leader Shatrughan Sinha did not join the road show. However, he was along with his wife during nomination on April 18. It is noteworthy that Shatrughan Sinha is contesting on Congress ticket from Patna Sahib in Bihar.

Poonam is pitched against BJP Candidate and Union Minister Rajnath Singh. Congress has named Acharya Pramod Krishnam from the parliamentary seat.

The Lucknow parliamentary seat will go to polls on May 6.

The Seat had in past represented by Atal Bihar Vajpayee for 5 terms from 1991 to 2009. However, in 2009 BJP’s Lalji Tandon won the Parliamentary Seat. BJP Senior Leader Rajnath had in 2014 won the by defeating Congress Rita Bahuguna Joshi with over 2.50 Lak Votes.

Rajnath Singh earlier in the week filed his nomination from Lucknow seeking his second term.

General Elections have already begun from April 11 and would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19.
