Rahul Gandhi who was also present on the occasion said, ‘There have been many people in Indian history who had the arrogance to believe that they’re invincible & bigger than the people of India. Narendra Modi for the last 5 years has done nothing for the ppl of India. His invincibility will be in full view after election results’.
Sonia Gandhi in a run-up to the mega polls is seeking his fifth term from Rae Bareli. He has entered the Lok Sabha in 1999 contesting from Amethi Lok Sabha Seat.
In 2014 General Elections, Bharatiya Janata Party fielded Ajay Aggarwal against Sonia Gandhi. Gandhi defeated Aggarwal with over 4 Lakh Votes.
However, BJP unlike last polls does not want to give a walk away to Sonia Gandhi and has named Dinesh Pratap Singh, who had recently joined the BJP after quitting the Congress party.
However, BSP–SP Grand Alliance has not fielded its Candidate from Rae Bareli.
Earlier on Wednesday, Congress President accompanied by family held massive 3 KM Roadshow passing through Munshiganj-Darpipur, Gauriganj to reach District Collectorate Office of Amethi and filed nominations.
Besides Amethi, Rahul Gandhi is also contesting from Kerala’s Wayanad parliamentary constituency.
Polling in 91 constituencies across 20 States and UTs in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections began on Thursday. Voting is underway in 8 Lok Sabha Seats of UP.
Rae Bareli and Amethi both will go to polls on May 6.
