Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati on Thursday finalized a seat-sharing arrangement for their alliance in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. While Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will fight on 38 seats, Akhilesh’s Samajwadi Party is set to contest on 37 seats in the crucial polls. The SP-BSP Alliance will not field its candidates from Congress Bastions – Amethi and Rae Bareli.

The 37 seats in the SP quota include Kairana, Moradabad, Sambhal, Rampur, Mainpuri, Firozabad, Badaun, Bareilly, Lucknow, Etawah, Kanpur, Kannauj, Jhansi, Banda, Allahabad, Kaushambi, Phulpur, Faizabad, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Varanasi, and Mirzapur.
The BSP will contest from Saharanpur, Bijnor, Nagina, Aligarh, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Dhaurahara, Sitapur, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Kaiserganj, Basti, Salempur, Jaunpur, Bhadohi and Deoria, among other constituencies.
Earlier in the day, Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav showed his displeasure over the alliance forged by his son and party president Akhilesh Singh Yadav with the Bahujan Samaj Party. Addressing party workers at the SP headquarters here, Mulayam Singh Yadav made clear that he was unhappy with Mayawati’s BSP being given “half” of the seats in the alliance for Uttar Pradesh ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Mulayam Singh Yadav, Samajwadi Party: Party ko khatam kaun kar raha hai? Apni hi party ke log. Itni mazboot party bani thi. Akele 3 baar sarkar banai, teeno baar hum CM rahe, Raksha Mantri bhi rahe, mazboot party thi. Hum rajneeti nahi kar rahe, lekin hum sahi baat rakh rahe hain pic.twitter.com/sa3XpN5OvO

The remarks come days after the SP patriarch created a stir in Parliament, saying he wished that Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns to power.
Both the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party had in January last month made their alliance official. However, earlier it was expected that both will contest on similar seats to avoid any dispute.
On other hands, after being dropped out of BSP-SP alliance, Congress has intensified its UP mission and have inducted Priyanka Gandhi in the UP Team along with Jyotiraditya Scindia.
