Delhi Metro Phase IV- SC asks DDA to clarify funding for 3 priority corridors

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday granted time to Delhi Development Authority to clarify its stand on increasing financial contribution as proposed by Environment Pollution Prevention and Control Authority (EPCA), in three priority corridors of the fourth phase of Delhi Metro Project. A bench of justices Arun Mishra and Deepak Gupta also asked the Centre to inform it about the status of sanction for the work related to the six corridors of the phase-IV.

The ministry of housing and urban affairs, on March 9, had approved three priority corridors, 61.66 km in length- Aerocity to Tughlakabad, R K Ashram to Janakpuri (west) and Mukundpur to Maujpur- at a cost of 24948.65 crores.

DDA’s council sought time from the bench to clarify the authority’s stand on the issue in which the EPCA has suggested that DDA can be asked to give Rs 2,500 crore for the three priority corridors out of their agreed Rs 5,000 crore for six corridors of phase-IV. “Give us two days’ time. It is a matter of finance,” DDA’s counsel told the bench.
