Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday inaugurated the State’s Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project at Medigadda Barrage in Kaleshwaram, Telangana. Medigadda Barrage in Kaleshwaram is the starting point of the project which envisages the construction of three barrages between Yellampally and Medigadda.
While the Telangana Chief Minister, on the occasion, was accompanied along with his wife. He also participated in the yagam being performed barrage.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Andhra CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, Telangana Governor were among others who were present during the Inauguration of KLIP.

KCR had claimed that Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) will create history as the largest lift irrigation project built.
The total estimated cost of the project is ₹80,500 crore and is the costliest project undertaken by the state.
The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project is aimed to irrigate 7,38,851 hectares of Land and will benefit the areas of Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Warangal, Medak, Nalgonda, and Ranga Reddy Districts.
The foundation stone for the project was laid in 2016. As claimed by the State, this is world’s biggest project of its kind, which completed in the shortest time.
The government is planning to lift two thousand million cubic (TMC) feet of Godavari water per day from Medigadda barrage. The project will start in July, this year.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project is a gift from the people of Maharashtra to the people of Telangana. This project will change the face of Telangana.
