Karamjyoti Dalal

Indian discus-thrower Karamjyoti Dalal has won the third medal for India in the World Para Athletics Championships 2017. Dalal throwing her best throw (19.02 m) of the season just passed over Baharain’s Alomari Roba, who managed 19.01m.

Though she was initially declared fourth, later she was declared third as due to some reasons, Chinese Yang Liwan was disqualified after the event. Hence Dalal managed to win a Bronze medal for India.

After being unable to perform well in the Rio Paralympics last year, Karamjyoti Dalal got her form back in March at the Fazaa International IPC International Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai where she clinched the gold medal for the country.

Dalal was originally a part of the national Kabaddi team. However, after surviving a fall from her terrace, she lost her motor senses for a year. She later started her career in the discus throw in 2014 and since then she has made a progress from being unranked to the top-10 in the world.
