Mamata Banerjee led TMC Government in West Bengal on Thursday challenges the court verdict after it allows Bhartiya Janata Party to hold ‘rath yatras‘ in the state. The West Bengal Government approached the Divison Bench of the Calcutta High Court against the single bench order that earlier in the day allowed the BJP to carry on with its ‘Rath Yatras’ across the state as part of its campaign for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The Move came after the Single Bench Court on Thursday while hearing the fresh Plea filed by the Bhartiya Janata Party gives green signal to the three yatras, scheduled to be held in Cooch Behar, Sagar Island, and Tarapith on December 22, 24 and 26, respectively.
The matter will be heard by a division bench led by Chief Justice Debasish Kar Gupta on Friday.
Earlier on the day, The Single Bench Court directs the administration to ensure the no law and order issues should erupt. The Court also asked the BJP to inform the police authorities, superintendent of the district where the ‘yatra’ shall enter, at least 12 hours before entering the concerned district.
The Saffron Party on Monday moved to Calcutta High Court with a fresh writ petition against West Bengal Government’s denial of permission to BJP ‘Rath Yatra’ in the state.
After weeks of Tussle Between the Party and Government BJP criticized the government and said the Court Verdict as the Victory of Democracy. BJP Leader Kailash Vijaywargiya reacted on the Verdict and said: ‘We welcome this decision & we had trust on judiciary that we’ll get justice. This decision is a slap on the face of tyranny. We haven’t decided anything but I can assure that PM&party chief will join the yatra.’
While Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley lashes out at TMC Government in a series of tweets, saying if the BJP government had stopped an opposition rally, it would have been called an “undeclared emergency”.
If any NDA/BJP Government had stopped an opposition Programme, it would have been called an “Undeclared Emergency”. Why Silence now?
