DMK Chief MK Stalin on Sunday defended his last month statement backing Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister. He slammed media when he was asked why he had taken Gandhi’s name last month, and when he didn’t take his name yesterday (Saturday) at the mega anti-BJP rally in West Bengal, he was once again asked why he hadn’t talked about it.

“Yes, I had proposed Rahul Gandhi’s name for the next prime minister in DMK’s Chennai rally… It is funny that when I said it, the media asked me why I had said so, but yesterday when I did not say, the same media once again asked me why I had not said it,” Stalin said in Tamil Nadu, according to a report by news agency ANI.

Stalin defended his statement made in Chennai and said that there was nothing wrong in what he said. “What was wrong in what I said? It is what the people of Tamil Nadu wish for… But in West Bengal, they (parties) have decided to finalize the candidate after the elections… It is their call,” he said reportedly.
