The Trinamool Congress holds the Martyrs’ Day rally annually on July 21 in memory of 13 youths who were killed in police firing on this day in 1993.

While addressing the rally on Friday, TMC Chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inviting all ministers, MPs, MLAs and block leaders said that the party will be launching a three-week long movement against BJP. Banerjee said that “we will launch the movement in every Lok Sabha and assembly constituency, block, city and village. I urge all my ministers, MPs, MLAs and block leaders to take part in the programme.”

She said that marking the day August 9 as the day when the Congress launched the Quit India Movement against the British in 1942, TMC will also launch the movement against BJP with the slogan of ‘BJP Quit India‘ on 9 Aug which will last till 30 Aug. Mamata Banerjee will be present at the launch and close of the movement.

This will be the 2nd major event being organised against BJP in Aug. The first was announced by RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav who will be holding a mega rally against BJP on 28 Aug and has all the opposition parties to participate in the rally.
