Presently, Phase-II of the FAME India Scheme is being implemented for the next 5 years with effect from 1st April 2019 with total budgetary support of Rs. 10,000 crores.

With the intent to promote the adoption of electric vehicles across India, the government has launched the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for manufacturing of Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) to reduce the prices of batteries, which ultimately will result in cost reduction in EVs.

Moreover, EVs also come under Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Automobile and Auto Components, which got approval on 15 September 2021 with budgetary spending of Rs 25,938 crore over five years.

Meanwhile, the GST on EVS has been slashed from 12% to 5%, also GST on chargers and charging stations for electric vehicles have been brought down to 5% from 18%.
