Echoes, Uproars, and Chaos hit the Karnataka Assembly on Wednesday as Opposition Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Lawmakers in the assembly shouted Slogans against JD(S)Congress Coalition Government during Governor’s address on the first day of Budget Session.

As soon as the Governor Vajubhai Vala started his address to the joint sitting, BJP Lawmakers started shouting slogans against the government ‘We don’t approve this government’ shouted an MLA from Saffron Party. BJP MLAs later jumped into the well of the House and asked the Governor Vajubhai Vala not to deliver the opening address of both the houses. “You are made to read lies, so please don’t read it,” BJP members said.

However, despite intense sloganeering from the BJP Lawmakers, Governor Vajubhai Vala continued his address.

As the BJP’s protest within the House continued, Governor said he is concluding his speech and it should be deemed as read. With this, Vajubhai read out the last paragraph of his 22-page speech.

BJP Leader BS Yeddyurappa on the incident said as quoted by ANI, “No development is going on, there is infighting within the cabinet, that is why we boycotted Governor’s speech. We are not going to move a no-confidence motion. We’re waiting & observing everything“.

Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, who also holds the Finance portfolio, is scheduled to present his coalition governments second budget on February 8.

Karnataka Congress leader DK Shivakumar on being asked what if BJP moves a no-confidence motion, said, “Let them try.” He also said that it is very shocking that BJP legislators are showing this attitude of frustration towards the Governor’s speech.
