Parliamentarians from the Opposition parties, in the Lower House of the parliament, again created ruckus in the House over US President Donald Trump‘s remark about the Kashmir Issue and sought a reply from PM Narendra Modi over the statement.

Raising up the issue, Congress leaders along with other opposition leaders demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should clear the air about US President Donald Trump’s remark.

Opposition leaders said that they are not satisfied with the reply of the Union Foreign Minister S Jaishankar‘s reply on the issue and want PM Modi to issued a clarification. Congress MPs walked out of Lok Sabha in protest, demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarification over US President Donald Trump’s statement on Kashmir.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, ‘As S Jaishankar ji (External Affairs Minister) said Kashmir issue was not discussed in President Trump & PM Modi meeting. There is no question of mediation in Kashmir issue as it will be against the Shimla agreement’.

Earlier on Tuesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishnakar told Rajya Sabha that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not made any request to US President Donald Trump for mediation in Kashmir Issue.

US President, during a meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in White House last week, had claimed that PM Narendra Modi has asked him to act as a mediator for resolving the Kashmir standoff between the two countries.

The development has triggered a political storm in the country with opposition parties seeking clarification from Prime Minister.

Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday, also launched an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue. Talking to Twitter, Congress leader said, ‘President Trump says PM Modi asked him to mediate between India & Pakistan on Kashmir! If true, PM Modi has betrayed India’s interests & 1972 Shimla Agreement. A weak Foreign Ministry denial won’t do. PM must tell the nation what transpired in the meeting between him & (President of the United State)’.
