HS Prannoy

Another tournament, another Indian winner. Days are going well for the Indian badminton players. After Srikanth Kidambi creating history by winning two successive Superseries title as well as entering three consecutive finals at the Indonesian Open, Singapore Open, and the Australian Open, Indian shuttler HS Prannoy bagged the US Open Grand Prix Gold after defeating another Indian finalist, Parupalli Kashyap 21-15, 20-22, 21-12 in a hard fought final on Sunday.

This is the third Grand Prix Gold for Prannoy and as well as his maiden US Open title. Earlier, Prannoy had defeated Vietnam’s Tien Minh Nguyen in the semi-finals whereas, Kashyap reached the finals by defeating Korean Kwang Hee Heo.

Both the players gave tough competition to each other. Though the youngster gave a tough competition to Kashyap in the first round, the former Commonwealth Games gold medallist fought back in the second match. However, it was all for Prannoy in the decider as he defeated his experienced compatriot 21-12.
