The Indian Railway is starting a new train which will connect Varanasi and Vadodara. The inauguration of the train will be done by prime minister Narendra Modi. On a two-day tour of his constituency, Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Varanasi-VadodaraMahanama Express. This will be the third Mahanama Express train running in India.

Here is the list of some of the details and features of the Mahanama express. Let’s have a look

  • Mahanama Express derives its name from the nickname of former chief of Hindu Mahasabha head, Madan Mohan Malviya. He was also known as Mahanama.
  • The train houses premium interiors and it is made by Hindustan Fibre Glass, a Vadodara based company.
  • Varanasi-Vadodara train will run as a weekly train. It will start from Vadodara and will return on every Friday from Vadodara.
  • The 1,531 kilometres journey will be covered at an average speed of 55.7km/h. The train will have stoppage at  Bharuch and Surat in Gujarat; Amalner and Bhusawal in Maharashtra; Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katni and Satna in Madhya Pradesh; and Chheoki in Uttar Pradesh.
  • The train will have 18 coaches, out of which, 1 will be AC 1 tier, 2 AC 2 tier coaches, 8 sleeper, four general coaches, one pantry and two guard brake vans. One of the interesting noticeable things in the train is that it does not have any AC 3 coaches.
