On July 22, VegEase, the country’s only cart-at-home e-grocery company informed that it has begun to employ Electric Vehicles (EV) in its last-mile logistics to decrease its carbon footprint and achieve sustainable growth.

This month, the business completed an early test and plans to transition to an all-electric fleet by 2024. VegEase has collaborated with OBA, an electric vehicle OEM, on a long-term lease plan for its three-wheeler eVikas light commercial vehicles. The move will result in a 25 per cent decrease in operational costs. Three-wheeled loaders with Li-Ion batteries with a load capacity of 300 kg will be added by VegEase.

VegEase (which launched in 2020) is a one-of-a-kind software that assures consumers receive fresh, unadulterated fruits and vegetables at their homes. VegEase’s purpose, vision, and obsession are to take consumer connections with a business beyond the brick and store. What sets them apart is their cart-at-home model.VegEase is a division of EGreens, a people-first retail firm dedicated to redefining the grocery shopping experience and introducing customers to the joys of buying farm-fresh fruits and vegetables.

Speaking on the initiative, Mayank Chaurasia, CEO & Founder VegEase says, “EV is the future of city logistics and we at VegEase are committed to the sustainable growth of this sector. With all our deliveries happening intra-city, and through last-mile logistics, it is imperative to look at reducing the carbon footprint of our operations and to eventually reduce pollution by transport. We are convinced that this also significantly improves our costs in the long term while contributing to the creation of a robust EV ecosystem.”

VegEase’s cart-at-home approach has been a huge hit in the NCR, with the company’s client base tripling in just one month, in April 2021, and rising at a pace of 100 per cent per month.VegEase has grown from a startup in January 2021 to a company with a turnover of INR 10 million and a client base of over 18,000 in the Delhi/NCR region, with 5000 new customers joining in April and May 2021 alone. VegEase plans to be operating in all major metros in the south and west India by the end of 2021, with a goal turnover of INR 40 million for the current fiscal year.
