Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu has called an all-party meeting on December 10, a day before the commencement of Parliament’s winter session. The Winter Session is slated to commence from December 11, the same day when the results of ongoing assembly elections will be declared.

The Government will push to create a way for the ‘triple talaq’ bill pending in the upper house.

The Rajya Sabha Chairman has called a meeting of the floor leaders of all the parties in the Upper House at his residence on December 10, a source familiar with the development told, adding that this with aimed at building a consensus for a smooth functioning of the proceedings in the Upper House of the Parliament.

M Venkaiah Naidu has expressed concern over deadlock situation between the ruling and the opposition that has affected the smooth functioning of parliamentary proceedings.

The meeting is expected to be attended by Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad and the Leader of the House, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

With Lok Sabha Elections lined up for next year, this will be the last full-fledged Parliament session. While the opposition it will be last chance to take on the government in the house before the Polls.

The results of all poll-bound five state assembly elections will have a major impact on the proceeding of the house.

The results in all five poll-bound states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram – will be announced on December 11.
