Over the controversy of army veterans writing letter to the armed forces, the Rashtrapati Bhavan responded saying they have received no such letter.

It was said that 150 veterans of the armed forces wrote a letter to President Ramnath Kovind saying that the armed forces were being used as a part of the political agenda. The armed forces were referred to as ‘Modiji ki sena’ by the U.P. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Prime minister Narendra modi in his poll rallies have also asked the first time voters of the country to vote for the armed forces who died as martyrs in the Pulwama terror attacks indirectly meaning to cast their votes for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The 150 veterans said to have written the letter include service chiefs. However the denial of the Rashtrapati Bhavan in getting any such letter also resulted in the denial of some signatories mentioning they had not endrsed any such thing.

“We hearby respectfully urge you to take all the necessary steps to urgently direct all political parties that they must forthwith desist from using the military, military uniforms or symbols, and any actions by military formations or personnel, for political purposes or to further their political agendas,” the letter dated April 11 said. Eight former chiefs endorsed this.
