Welcome to Mumbai, where anything is possible – especially the impossible!

Mumbaikar

Mumbai – the city of dreams, the city that never sleeps. But is that it? Is that what Mumbai is all about? Well I’m here to convince you that it’s not.  The first thought that comes to our minds when we think of Mumbai is the commercial and entertainment capital of India! So, it goes without saying that the people here have commercial minds and entertaining hearts!

One can NEVER categorize the Mumbaikars as they are a blend of every hue. Right from the slum dwellers to rich industrialists; from working professionals, dedicated housewives, and diligent students to fitness freaks, party animals, hard core musicians, dancers, athletes all find a happy coexistence in this melting pot called Mumbai.

The biggest advantage of this metropolis is that one can never feel lonely here. Any migrant will definitely encounter the people of his caste and community in this city. Although being the abode of Maharashtrians, Mumbai has several Gujaratis, South Indians, Muslims, Parsis, Christians, North Indians and Bengalis as its residents.

One thing that is really amazing about the Mumbaikars is that they don’t believe in restrictions such as age limit or time.  “Nothing is impossible” is their motto. People here work round the clock in order to achieve their targets and goals. Due to this constant chase, they often forget to take a break, relax, enjoy the rains or take their children to the park. Sometimes you will find them actually checking their schedules in order to “find” time for such things. With having said that, Mumbaikars do love to hang out.  Apart from their offices and homes you will find them at coffee shops, cinema halls, shopping malls, or places like Marine Drive, Juhu beach and Bandra Bandstand. These destinations attract huge crowds in the evenings and on weekends.

The people of Mumbai are extreme foodies. They love to try out various cuisines but their personal favourite will always be the street food commonly known as chaat. Pani puri, vada pav,  pav bhaji or papdi chaat never fails to enlivens their taste buds. Mumbaikars also believe in grand celebrations be it weddings, festivals, parties or mere get-togethers. They do it all in style! Moreover, the people here are die hard cricket fans! It’s funny how the streets of Mumbai are virtually deserted on the days of an important cricket match.

And how could we forget the celebrities of tinsel town? The luxury apartments and bungalows of Bandra, Juhu and Lokhandvala are home to some of the most famous personalities of the Indian Film Industry.  The Bachchans, Khans and Kapoors are the widely loved residents of Mumbai since decades. Their residences and also the famous Film City Studios are much frequented tourist spots for the people of Mumbai and even visitors from all over the country.

To sum it up, Mumbaikars are people who are extremely friendly, hard working, ambitious, compassionate, and fun loving. They believe in living life to the fullest while striving for nothing but the best. They love to travel and explore different places and cultures yet they are deeply rooted in their values and principles. Mumbai – where trends are set as well as broken. Once you step into this cosmopolitan city you will never want to leave.

And that is why – Live Mumbai, Love Mumbai!
