The Bugle Rock  is a massive rock in Basavanagudi area of South Bangalore.  It is an abrupt rise above the ground of peninsular gnesis as the main rock formation and with an assessed age of about 3,000 million years. It is inside the M.N. Krishna Rao Park, which is one of the oldest park of Bangalore.  Kempe Gowda, who was the feudal ruker of Bangalore,  has built 4 watch towers,  setting the limits for Bangalore’s expansion.  A tower is set on Bugle Rock which allows you for a panoramic view of the Bangalore city. It is said that at sunset a sentry would blow the bugle and hold a torch which was visible from the other three watch towers. The first Tower is at Kempambudhi tank on the west. The second Tower is located near the ulsoor lake in the east and the third tower is adjoining Ramana Maharshi on Bellary Road( Mekhri Circle in the north).   The motive behind this was to indicate people that everything was safe at  the location and also to inform if there were any intruders into the city, thus serving as a warning call.
