Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee‘s desire to become the Prime Minister has never been hidden. She knows her party Trinamool Congress (TMC) can play a huge role in the upcoming 2019 elections and during post-poll alliance if she gains the numbers.

Banerjee has ordered her party members to gather a ‘detailed review’ and analysis of the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state before she can decide the candidates for the seats. According to the TMC inside sources, this process will lead to many sitting Member of Parliament (MPs) of the party from not being given ticket again to fight in the 2019 general elections, reported Hindustan Times.

According to the report of Hindustan Times, three party senior members have revealed that almost half of the sitting MPs will not be given tickets for the upcoming 2019 elections and new faces will be given the chance. One party leader said, “Some of them are likely to be dropped on health grounds, while a few may be replaced because of the prevailing political situation in those constituencies.”

Another senior leader commented, “But this election will be special for us. There is aspiration to play a larger national role. And in this regard, several candidates may be dropped to accommodate new, more deserving ones.”

With the growing influence of BJP in the state, Banerjee wants to ensure her win by giving chance to strong candidates.

The insiders of the party named a few MPs which might be relieved by the party due to health issues. These include filmstars-turned-MPs, Tapas Paul, Moonmoon Sen and Sandhya Ray, reported Hindustan Times.

Another TMC senior leader said, “Banerjee has a very clear idea about who can be the right candidate. In this election, she will also keep in mind the growing influence of the BJP in some areas, particularly north Bengal”, reported Hindustan Times.

No official confirmations have been made by the party yet.
