According to the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) data published on Wednesday, Out of the total 928 candidates in the fray, 210 candidates have declared criminal cases against them for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections.

158 candidates have declared serious criminal cases against them and 12 candidates have declared convicted cases against themselves. 24 candidates have declared candidates related to attempt to murder, Five candidates have declared the cases registered against them in case of murder. 21 candidates declared cases related to crime against women, four candidates have declared cases for alleged kidnapping, 16 candidates have declared cases related to the conduction of hate speeches against themselves for the Lok Saha elections.

The National Election Watch and the Association of Democratic Reforms have analyzed the self sworn affidavits of 928 candidates who have filed nomination for the Lok Sabha polls out of the total 943 candidates for the phase four. 15 candidates were left out because of the unavailability of there scanned and complete affidavits.

Out of the 57 candidates from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 25 have declared serious criminal cases against them and 20 have declared criminal cases against them. Similarly, out of the 57 candidates from Congress, 18 have declared serious criminal cases whereas 9 have declared crimes.

ADR has analyzed 928 candidates from 71 constituencies in eight states. It is also noted in the declaration that 37 out of the total 71 constituencies, three or more contesting candidates have faced criminal charges.

The third phase of the polls saw criminal cases against 570 candidates that included 40 out of 90 in Congress and 38 out of 97 candidates in BJP.

The second phase of the Lok Sabha polls had 251 candidates who declared criminal cases against them and in the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls, 213 candidates had declared criminal cases against them.

The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases that have started from April 11 and will continue till May 19. the results will be announced on May 23.
