In a big blow to Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP), four out of its Six Rajya Sabha MPs are likely to shift their loyalties to Bharatiya Janata Party, sources claimed on Thursday. The development comes days after the TDP faced a crushing defeat in both national and state polls.

If sources to be believed, ‘Bharatiya Janata Party top brasses including Ram Madhav, and union minister of state for home, G Kishan Reddy held a round of parleys with the TDP MPs. BJP is eyeing to gain in the upper house as it no majority there.

While the meeting of TDP Rajya Sabha MPs with BJP Chief Amit Shah on Thursday further fueled the speculation of them switching sides. TDP MPs who met Shah include YS Chowdary, CM Ramesh, TG. Venkatesh and G Mohan Rao.

Sources claimed that soon after TDP massive defeat in the polls, these MPs have started holding negotiations with the Saffron Party showing their willingness to jump ship.

Out of all the Four Rajya Sabha MPs, two of them have faced an intense series of searches by Income Tax, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Sources familiar with the development further claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has yet not taken a call and is expected to make a final decision over the switching only after the state wing president Kanna Lakshminarayana returned to the State who is currently on a visit to Manasarovar pilgrimage.

However, Vijayawada Lok Sabha member Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) claimed that no one is quitting the party. He said all the Rajya Sabha MPs are with the Party. TDP Vijayawada had recently revolted against the party chief supremo Chandrababu Naidu’s decision to appoint Guntur MP Galla Jayadev as Telugu Desam Party Parliamentary (TDPP) Leader.

TDP in the polls suffered a huge defeat in Andhra Pradesh. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP in recently held polls registered a landslide victory in both assembly and national polls in the state. YRSCP won 151 assembly seats out of the 175 assembly seat in the state and unseat Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP Government. While 23 seats bagged by TDP and one seat bagged by Pawan Kalyan‘s Jana Sena Party.

While in national polls, TDP could only manage to win 3 Seats while YSRCP bag 22 Lok Sabha Seats out of 25 seats in the state.
