Himachal Pradesh Poll Officials on Thursday said that a total of 45 candidates have filed nomination for a single phase of national polls for 4 Lok Sabha seats of the state that will go to polls on May 19. He added that only a single nomination was withdrawn which was from Shimla Lok Sabha Seat.

‘Dula Ram (Independent) from Solang Village of Jubbal tehsil in Shimla District withdrew his nominations on Thursday’, said Himachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer.

Out of the total 4 Parliamentary Seats, Mandi Lok Sabha Seat saw a maximum for 17 Candidates filing the nomination to be in the electoral fray. While Kangra and Hamirpur Lok Sabha Seat recorded nominations with just 11. For Shimla Lok Sabha Seat, 6 candidates have filed nominations for national polls 2019.

Himachal Pradesh that will go to polls on May 19. The hill state has 51.59 lakh voters, out of which 26,45,582 are male while the remaining 25,13,357 are females.

The political fight in the state is between the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019. General Elections 2019 has already started and is being held across Seven Phases from April 11 to May 19. Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.

In 2014 General Elections, BJP banking on the ‘Modi Wave’ bagged all 4 Lok Sabha seats of the hill state.
