Eight MLAs of Congress–JDS including BC Patil, H Vishvanath, Narayan Gowda, Shivaram Hebbar, Mahesh Kumathalli, Gopalaiah, Ramesh Jarkiholi and Pratap Gowda Patil on Saturday submitted their resignations to Secretary at Speaker office.
However, the Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar was not present in the office. Talking to media, Kumar said, ‘I was supposed to pick up my daughter that is why I went home, I have told my office to take resignations and give them acknowledgment that 11 members resigned, Tomorrow is leave so I will see them on Monday’.

Speaking to media, Ramalinga Reddy confirmed that the MLA submitted his resignation to the speaker. ‘I don’t know about my daughter(Congress MLA Sowmya Reddy), she is an independent woman’, said Reddy while responding to a query about her daughter.
In the meantime, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara and State minister DK Shivakumar called an emergency meeting of Congress Bengaluru MLAs and Corporators. The meeting is slated to be held later today.
Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) currently heading a coalition government with 117 MLAs, which is just 3 more than halfway mark. The Opposition BJP has 105 MLAs. The resignation of 8 MLAs from the ruling side will reduce the government to a minority.
