BJP in Rajasthan is geared up for taking the 2018 assembly election and is leaving no stone unturned in trying to win the elections for the second time consecutively. Till now the party has named 162 candidates which include the names of those as well who had contested the last assembly polls against the BJP.

Golma Devi

Golma Devi, wife of Rajya Sabha MP Kirodil Lal Meena has got a ticket from BJP this time to contest the election from Sapotra constituency. However, last time she had contested the elections against BJP from Rajgarh Constituency where she had won by defeating the BJP candidate.

Gurdeep Singh Shahpeeni

Fielded from assembly seat of Sangariya, Gurdeep Singh Shahpeeni had contested the last assembly elections as an independent against the BJP candidate Krishna Karwa, from the same constituency. He received around 40994 votes but did not win.

Bihari Lal Bishnoi

Bihari Lal Bishnoi is going to contest the election from Nokha for BJP. In the last assembly polls, Bishnoi had garnered 35,365 votes. The votes were shifted to Bishnoi, owing to which Congress managed to win this seat.

Kanhaiya Lal Meena

Kanhaiya Lal Meena has got the ticket from Bassi seat. He had contested the last election against BJP. Sitting MLA from Bassi, Anju Devi Dhanka has been denied the ticket.

Ashok Sharma

Another opportunist, Ashok Sharma has got the BJP ticket from Rajakheda constituency which is considered to be Congress influenced area. He had contested the 2103 elections against BJP from Dholpur. Although,he could not manage to win the seat, but he shifted a considerable amount of vote. As a result BSP won this seat.

Abhinesh Maharshi

Abhinesh Maharshi has been given the party ticket from Ratangarh assembly seat replacing sitting MLA, Rajkumar Rinwa. Maharshi had contested the 2013 elections from Ratangarh itself but was not that influential. Still BJP has given him the ticket.

Along with BJP, The Congress party is also likely to name such candidates. Many BJP members have quit the party and may join the Congress soon.

The elections in Rajasthan is slated to take place on December 7.
