After Nitish Kumar‘s support, Ramnath Kovind is likely to be voted by six independent MPs of Rajya Sabha. These include Rajeev Chandrashekar, Sanjay Dattatraya Kakade, Subash Chandra, Amar Singh, AV Swami, and Parimal Nathwani.

Congress party is working hard to to get more votes for their candidate, Meira Kumar. After this news, Kovind’s Selection as president is effectively vouchsafed.

Currently, Ramnath Kovind is on a tour to various states in order to muster votes for the Presidential Election 2017. He’ll be visiting various states like Andra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh etc to talk to their MPs and MLAs.

This support of independent MPs has given a boost to BJP efforts and to give Kovind two-third strength of the total electoral college.
