Meira Kumar is not supported by Trinamool Congress MLAs. Though Meira Kumar is the Presidential candidate for non-BJP parties, still six Tripura Trinamool MLAs have refused to support her. Sudeep Roy Burman reportedly said the they cannot support Meira Kumar as she is a Congress candidate and enjoys the support of CPM (Communist Party of India Marxist). He added that Trinamool in Assam is looking to remove CPM from Assam in the next elections. He has informed Ram Madhav about not supporting Meira Kumar which will certainly exultant BJP leadership in Assam.
This decision will surely affect Mamta Banerjee‘s prospectives, as she, along with her party wanted to make an anti-BJP stance. It’s not sure whether Mamta Banerjee will ask TMC to change its decision as no political party can issue whips and ask its MLAs to vote for a particular candidate.
Meira Kumar is planning to visit Kolkata on 4th July and hold a meeting with CPM, TMC and Congress, who are supporting her candidature again Ramnath Kovind. BJP Chief Minister and the Governor of North East Democratic Alliance had prod TMC MLAs to vote for Ram Nath Kovind.
