Aam Aadmi Party disgruntled legislator Alka Lamba on Thursday said that she is thinking to contest the upcoming Delhi State Polls as an Independent Candidate. She added that she has already made up her mind to officially step down from the Arvind Kejriwal‘s Aam Aadmi Party.

Assembly elections in Delhi are due early next year.

As quoted by PTI, she said, ‘I would resign from the party for sure, however, I will make an official announcement on August 4 if I would contest independently or not’.

Aam Aadmi Party legislator from Chandni Chowk alleged that she had been disrespected by the party on several occasions. Slamming the party, Lamba alleged the party is inviting me to any meetings. ‘This is insulting’, she said while adding that she will quit the next day after she spent all the money allocated for the development work of the assembly.

However, in the meantime, Delhi ruling party, Aam Aadmi Party called it a “publicity stunt”. Hitting back at Alka Lamba’s latest remark, AAP Greater Kailash Legislator Saurabh Bharadwaj said she is an ‘attention seeker’.

AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj, however, called her a “chronic attention seeker”.

Speaking to news agency PTI, Bhardwaj said if hse really wants to resign, she should send a resignation letter to the party. He claimed that ‘This is all just publicity stunt, she had announced a couple of times in media about resigning but she must be scared of losing her MLA seat.

AAP MLA from Chandi Chowk has been in loggerheads with the party for some time now.

AAP Lawmaker from Chandni Chowk was reportedly sidelined by the Arvind Kejriwal led party after she claimed in December last year that she has been asked to resign following the controversy in Delhi Assembly over revoking the Bharat Ratna from Prime Minister’s Rajiv Gandhi.

She had also slammed Arvind Kejriwal after AAP’s defeat in the national polls 2019. She had sought accountability from Arvind Kejriwal following which she was removed from the official WhatsApp group of the party.

Alka Lamba also accused AAP MLA from Greater Kailash Saurabh Bhardwaj of creating a rift between her and the party. Both – Bhardwaj and Lamba were engaged in a war of words on the social networking site Twitter in April.
