Actor Prakash Raj who had on January 1 announced his formal entry into Politics met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday in New Delhi. The meeting in between the duo ended up with Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal announces his full support the critically acclaimed actor.

Raj had on Jan 1 announced his entry into the Politics and asserted that he would contest the Upcoming Lok Sabha 2019 without much revealing about the seat. However, he has cleared that he will start his Political career as an Independent Candidate in the fray in the 2019 General Elections.

We need people like Prakash Raj to enter Parliament. Prakash ji, it was great meeting u today. AAP fully supports u and we agree wid ur decision to fight as an independent candidate. We need independent and non-partisan voices too in Parliament,” Kejriwal tweeted after the meet.

Raj also shared the images of the meeting with Delhi CM and thanked for extending support. “Met delhi CM @ArvindKejriwal thanked him and @AamAadmiParty for the support in my political journey. Discussed and requested to share various ways to address issues which his team has commendably done. #bengalurucentral #citizensvoice in parliament #justasking in parliament too” he tweeted.

The actor added hashtag #BenguluruCentral that hinted towards possibilities that he might contest from the seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha Battle.

Earlier on Jan 1, The National Award winner tweeted, “HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE..a new beginning .. more responsibility.. with UR support I will be contesting in the coming parliament elections as an INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE. Details of the constituency soon”

The Bengaluru born actor has been vocal about his views on the current BJP-led government at the Centre. He has also been one of those seeking justice for his friend and journalist Gauri Lankesh, who was shot outside her residence in September 2017.

Raj earlier claimed that Bollywood filmmakers stopped offering him roles as he has been critical of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.

The actor is the latest celebrity to join politics from the south after veterans Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
