The AAP faction in Kerala will now support the Left Democratic Front contrary to the press conference conducted by an AAP member mentioning the party’s support to the United Democratic Front (UDF).

Earlier a member of the Aam Aadmi Party had put out a statement mentioning the party’s support to the United Democratic Front. But national leadership of the party officially declared its stand today when it said that the AAP faction in Kerala will support the Left democratic party. “The “AAP faction in Kerala to support LDF,” said Somnath Bharti, leader of Aam Aadmi Party. The party declared this in a press conference conducted with CPM Politburo member and former MP of West Bengal, Nilotpal Basu. The State Convenor of the party, CR Neelakantan who proclaimed support to UDF without consulting the leadership of the party was hence expelled. After his expulsion CR Neelakantan gave a statement mentioning that he will move in accordance with the party’s central leadership as it is the one which takes the final decision on all matters.

CR Neelakantan was a former member of the Communist Party of India after which he joined Aam Admi Party in 2014 and became a member of the State Executive Committee.

This move comes at a time when the central leadership of AAP is having differences of opinion in an alliance with the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi slamming AAP mentioning ‘the doors of Congress are open, but time is running’, mentioning how AAP did not want to join Congress. AAP leaders in fact hold Rahul Gandhi responsible for not holding an alliance.

AAP’s Somnath Bharti talks to the media regarding render ‘unconditional support to the LDF in Kerala and the suspension of its state convenor in Kerala, CR Neelakantan.
