Speaking to the media, AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) leader Sanjay Singh briefly tells about his party’s stand on the decision of Jammu and Kashmir resolution. He told that while his party supports the removal of Article 370, it does not agree with the Union government’s stand to change the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir.

Rajya Sabha on Monday has approved the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 that sought to bifurcate the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into 2 Union territories. One UT will be Jammu & Kashmir while the other UT will be Ladakh. The Bill was cleared with 125 members supporting against the 61 votes of members disapproving the bill.

Sanjay Singh said that his government led by Arvind Kejriwal surely backs the government’s stand of abrogating the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and the party agrees with the Union government’s stand on repealing special status of the state as it was hindering the development of Jammu and Kashmir region.

He said to ANI, “The government is claiming that the Right to Education Act and Constitutional Amendment 73rd and 74th could not be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir because of Article 370. The government also said development works were affected there. Today, the Home Minister said that the government will bring peace and give employment.”

But He denied that the fact that the Delhi government supports the decision of the Union government to divide the erstwhile state into 2 UTs. He told that Arvind Kejriwal and his party does not support this new UT status of Jammu and Kashmir region.

AAP party has itself been demanding the status of full statehood to Delhi region from a long time. Consequently, Delhi was promised Full statehood in Lok sabha elections 2019.
