Aam Aadmi Party‘s National Council meeting will be held on December 29, Saturday to discuss the preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha 2019 Polls and to discuss organizational roles for the upcoming elections. Sources within the party said it is also expected that the party’s constitution may be amended to remove capping that barred any person to be the Party national Chief for more than two terms.

According to the party constitution, “No member will hold the same post as an office bearer for more than two consecutive terms of three years each.”

Amid Speculation of Amendment, it is expected that Arvind Kejriwal will be again appointed as the Party National Chief and could get ‘unlimited’ terms for the top post within the party. AAP Founder and National Chief Arvind Kejriwal was elected as the national convenor of the party for the second term in April 2016 for a period of three years.

‘There is also a possibility that the national executive could give an extension of six months to the existing office bearers and conduct internal polls after the 2019 elections,” said a AAP functionary.

Before the National Council meet, National Executive will meet on Friday to discuss and setting the agenda for the NC Meet of December 29.

Aam Aadmi Party and Indian National Congress reportedly were in Backroom talks to join hands in Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana but recently Rajiv Gandhi Resolution Row in Delhi Assembly has changed the dynamics altogether.
