Deputy Chief Minister and AAP Leader Manish Sisodia on Friday said that that his party (AAP) will file a cross defamation case against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Candidate Gautam Gambhir for allegedly distributing pamphlets with derogatory remarks against East Delhi Lok Sabha Seat Atishi.

Speaking to news agency ANI, “We are being defamed and they (BJP) are saying they will file defamation against us? We are going to send defamation notice to them today.,” said Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

While Atishi in the day reached out to Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) with a complaint on the same issue. Speaking to ANI, “If BJP and Gautam Gambhir can do this with an empowered woman then how will he ensure security to rest of the women? We have filed a complaint with Delhi Commission of Women, we will soon file a complaint with the Election Commission and Delhi Police“.

Earlier on Thursday, BJP Nominee from Delhi East Lok Sabha Seat Gautam Gambhir sent a defamation notice to AAP Leaders including its Chief Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Candidate Atishi Marlena for making allegations against him of distributing pamphlets with derogatory remarks about AAP Candidate.

Gautam Gambhir in the notice demanded an ‘Unconditional Apology’ from AAP Leaders. The notice sent to AAP Leaders stated, “You noticees (three AAP leaders) are called upon to
tender an unconditional and unqualified apology to our client for defaming him
with the false and baseless allegations.”

The turns of events came after Atishi Marlena and Manish Sisodia on Thursday held a press conference and alleged Gautam Gambhir of distributing pamphlets with derogatory remarks to AAP East Delhi Candidate.

However, responding to the allegations, former Cricketer said that he will withdrawal his nominations if charges are proved against him.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Candidate Gautam Gambhir in a run-up to the national polls is pitched against AAP’s Atishi and Arvinder Singh Lovely of Indian National Congress.

Lok Sabha Polls 2019 has already begun and is being held across Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23.

Delhi for all 7 Lok Sabha Seat will vote on May 12.
