The Delhi ruling party Aam Aadmi Party had on Tuesday knocked the Election Commission and lodged a complaint against the Bharatiya Janata Party for allegedly violating the model code of conduct imposed ahead of the national elections 2019.

The AAP has alleged the BJP of using Commercial Taxis for the purpose of the canvassing and campaigning in order to seek another term in the office in a run-up to the general elections 2019.

In a letter to poll body, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party has accused the saffron party of using public service vehicle for the purpose of party campaigning. The AAP said that it is not just the violation of poll code but also the violation of Transport Policy of the national capital.

The letter sent by the party stated that the transport policy of the national capital also does not allow the use of passengers vehicles for political campaigning. The AAP in the letter also attached images and the number of vehicles spotted in the roads of the national capital on April 2 carrying advertisements of the Centre ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

Earlier on Monday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wrote a letter to the Election Commission on Monday over the recently launched ‘Namo TV’. In its letter, AAP questioned if BJP sought permission before launching this channel. And if not, then why did Election commission did not take any stand on it?

The Model Code of Conduct came into force on March 10 when soon after the Election Commission announced the dates and schedule for the mega Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

Polling to all seven seats of the national capital will be held in a single phase on May 12.

Lok Sabha Polls are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.

Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019.
