Veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee on Wednesday joined the Bhartiya Janta Party on in the presence of party’s General Secretary and West Bengal State In-charges Kailash Vijayvargiya and Mukul Roy. Kailash Vijayvargiya in a tweet expressed confident that Chatterjee’s presence will boost the Party.

Vijayvargiya tweeted:

Reports suggest the Piku Actress might contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019 as well. Though it will not be the first time for the Veteran Artist. Moushumi had in 2004 unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket from Kolkata north-east seat.

Before Moushumi Chatterjee, many from the film industry, including actors Rupa Ganguly, who is now a member in Rajya Sabha, Rimi Sen, and singer Babul Supriyo had joined the saffron Outfit.

Chatterjee was last seen on Screen with Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone starer Piku in 2016. She had done over 100 of films and have shared a screen with lead actors Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna and Jeetendra. Apart from Bollywood, she has acted in Bengali cinema in her career.

The Bhartiya Janta Party has been working hard to win over personalities from different aspects of life in the eastern state where it has emerged as the main challenger to the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress.

A Kolkata Born actress is married to Jayant Mukherjee (son of famous playback singer Hemant Kumar). Chatterjee was born in Calcutta. Her father Prantosh Chattopadhyaya was in the Army.
