Prime Minister Narendra Modi is headed for a three nation tour on 24 June. He will be visiting Portugal, the US and the Netherlands and meeting the leaders of the country to build and strengthen bilateral ties with them. It will be a four day trip, where Modi will stop at the US for two days and meet the US President Donald Trump for the first time after he assumes office.

Ahead of the visit Modi had tweeted that, “My USA visit is aimed at deepening ties between our nations. Strong India-USA ties benefit our nations & the world.”

He also posted a statement on Facebook saying that Trump had invited Modi for the visit.

Modi will have his first stop at Portugal, where he will meet Prime Minister Antonio Costa.

He will than have a stop at the US  for two days and will hold discussions with President Donald Trump, attend the US-India summit, and will also attend a series of other events.

His final stop will be at Netherlands on June 27 where he will have a meeting with the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and meet Queen Maxima.

While in US, Modi will hold discussions with Trump regarding the cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan and will try to get a strong statement form US for the same. They will also talk about the Asia-Pacific issues regarding China’s aggressive activities. The two leaders will also touch upon the topic of defence partnership of both the nations.

Besides this, India will raise the H-1B visa issue.
