AIADMK-BJP inch closer to seal poll tie-up in Tamil Nadu as Piyush Goyal holds key meeting

Amidst Speculations about the ruling AIADMK forging an alliance with Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP), the Bhartiya Janta Party state In-charge for Tamil Nadu Piyul Goyal arrived in Chennai on Thursday to meet AIADMK Leaders.

According to those aware about BJP Senior Leader’s Schedule, told media that the meeting was aimed at finalizing seat-sharing and other alliance related issue for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls 2019.

Speaking about his visit to the State, Piyush Goyal told media at Airport that he is here in the state to meet his party leaders and ‘friends’. According to people aware about the meeting, AIADMK Seat sharing committee was also present in the meeting. Goyal, questioned if the meeting was a sign of affirmation of the AIADMK-BJP alliance, said all possibilities were open but promised of “good news” soon.  “The announcement could be very soon,” a person who had facilitated the meeting told media.

It is should be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi while interacting with party workers in Tamil Nadu by video conference in January last month, Modi had referred to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s role in successfully ushering in coalition politics.  Indicating that his party want to forge with its former allies, PM Modi said, “Even when the BJP won a majority on its own, we preferred to run the govt with our allies. We cherish our old friends and our doors are always open for parties”

Speculations about both – Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) inching closer to pack the deal was on height since Senior Leaders of AIADMK met Nirmala Sitharaman last month.

The Key Constituent in the state is PMK which according to an Indian National Congress leader in charge alliances for Tamil Nadu, is currently engaged in dialogue with both national parties. DMDK, run by actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth and other parties such as the IJK and Puthiya Thazhagam(PT) could be part of the alliance.

However, Actor turned Politician Kamal Haasan has already hinted that his party will not forge an alliance with any other party. MNM Chief Kamal Haasan had recently said that his party with contest on 40 seats including 39 of Tamil Nadu while one from Puducherry.
