AIADMK has expelled O Raja, the brother of Tamil Nadu Deputy CM O Panneerselvam. He was accused of “anti-party” activities.
A release signed by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Panneerselvam stated that Raja was removed for “for having acted against the party’s principles and ideologies, and for bringing disrepute to the party”. He has been sacked from all posts as well as the party’s primary membership.
The statement urged all the AIADMK workers not to have any contact with him.
The party welcomed the decision saying that any indiscipline would not be tolerated, irrespective of the person’s status.
Senior AIADMK leader D Jayakumar appreciated the action and said that it would serve as a warning to anyone who tries to go against the party. He further claimed that AIADMK is a “disciplined” organization.
He also praised Panneerselvam for taking the harsh step despite Raja being his younger brother. O Raja was AIADMK Coordinator.
