The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) headed by N. Uttam Kumar Reddy is all set to field the candidates which will be provided to All India Congress Committee (AICC). TPCC will prepare the list of candidates from each constituency based on applications received from party leaders and survey reports.
The AICC screening committee which is headed by Bhakta Charan Das will start selection of candidates from October 10. Mr. Das who will be accompanied by Jothimani Sennimalai and Sharmistha Mukherjee will arrive in Hyderabad on October 10 and hold meetings for three days.
The TPCC election committee will be shortlisting three candidates from each constituency based on their strength in their areas and then will present that list to the AICC screening committee.
The AICC will select one candidate from each constituency. It will prepare a list of names after properly analyzing the report submitted by TPCC. The screening committee will select only one candidate where there are strong leaders like Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mr Jana Reddy, Mr Shabbir Ali and Mr Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for example. The committee will prepare a tentative list which will be further scrutinized by the central leadership. After which they will release the final list of candidates.
The AICC is authorized to give tickets and will decide as to how many tickets should be given to one family as there are many leaders who are seeking tickets for themselves as well as their sons or daughters. According to the sources, if there are two contestants from one family but representing different constituencies, they may not be treated as one family.
Some leaders who are looking for two tickets are Mr Jana Reddy, Mr D.K. Aruna and Ms J. Geetha Reddy but they are likely to get one ticket per family.
Some leaders like Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy and his wife Padmavathi who have contested in election in the past and some sitting MLAs may also not attract the one ticket per family rule.
