Ajay Maken

Ajay Maken, Delhi Congress chief has resigned from his post on moral grounds after Congress ended up on third position in MCD elections. The results which were announced on Wednesday, saw congress winning just 30 seats out of 270 and the party came behind BJP and AAP.

This election was seen as the last chance of revival of Congress and the team seems to have failed badly. While talking to the reporters, Ajay Maken said that he wants to set an example by taking the moral responsibility of the loss. He also added that he will continue to work as a normal worker for Congress in whichever responsibility the party high-command gives him.

As soon as the results started to come in, Ajay Maken was on the target of his own colleagues. Sheila Dikshit, who served as Delhi Chief Minister for 3 terms, alleged Maken’s strategy to be way more defensive and added that the campaign should have been more aggressive if Congress wanted to have any chance of winning.

Arvinder Singh Lovely had left congress days before voting and joined BJP. He had also alleged Ajay Maken of taking the control of activities and not allowing others to have their say. Maken however, was optimistic and said that the congress party was the biggest gainer in terms of vote share and it has come as a big boost after the party could not win a single seat in the 2015 assembly election.
